Huh.....can ya can ya? I cant hear it either. Silence....... glorious, sweet, amazing silence. I love my kids to death......but this has been a week from Hades! Jhordan was home allllll week from school. And even with fevers of 104 he didnt slow down at all. Only one day did he succumb to the pain and sickness and sleep......for a whole 45 minutes! So the countdown to Monday when he can go back to school is on. He hasnt been sick to his stomache since they switched his medicine. So thats good. Nothing worse than telling your child that the medicine will make them feel better, so they take it (after a 20 minute fight LOL), and then get sick. I swear he was shooting daggers out of his eyes at me for that. But all is good now. Clayton was feeding off my vulnerability of no sleep.....fighting with everyone, talking back, doing things he knows are wrong. I swear I thought I would be bald my weeks end, But so far am surviving!! Rachael usually isnt a problem......until one of the boys start buggin her. Which is exactly what went on Wednesday. No school that day, was too cold. I think they could have stood being left in a snowbank for a few hours LOL And I am sooo tempted to put crazy glue on Claytons face....then he cant take his glasses off! Not once last week did he bring them home. Where are they? In his desk! If they are in his desk everyday, how is it possible that he is even wearing them at school. He has every excuse in the book for leaving them there. Thursday he said they were evacuated out of the classroom and he couldnt go back for them. I was like O come on.....evacuated??? Where do you come up with this stuff kid. Then I went through his backpack......sure enough, the boiler blew up and was emmiting some kind of (non-toxic) gas into the elementry end. So, I swallowed my pride and apologized for snapping and calling him a liar. Took me til the next morning to realize.....hey...he was able to get his jacket, skipants and bag to come home.....why didnt he grab them then? But I let it go. I remind him every morning to bring them home....yes mom I will. So now I have employed Rachael to ask him everyday at the boot racks when getting ready to get on the bus if he has them. Lets hope she has a longer memory than her brother!! But since the kids are down for the count, and Matt aint home yet.....I think I may go pamper myself. Heres hopeing I dont fall asleep in the tub and drown :)

Well my baby boy is pretty sick.
Well he is home for this whole week, and we will see how he is over the weekend whether he goes next week. The infection in his hand is pretty bad, but it also seems that he has tonsillitis . Poor kid, he has been down and out with the fevers from it. The antibiotics he was prescribed make him sick every time he takes them. So I made a call to the doc this morning to see about getting him something else. So between the pain in his hand, the fevers, and the pain in his throat.....he is one tired cranky kid. He is very happy that he gets to eat nothing but jello and ice cream. Lucky kid...I want a diet like that LOL. But I guess I better go and tend to the boy, he is giving me dirty looks and trying to yell at me to come read with him. Well if nothing else......it will be quiet for a few days LOL!!

Can it get any colder?
Seriously......this is unreal. I guess I shouldnt really be suprised by it. It is winter in Manitoba....if you dont like the weather, wait 5 minutes. Yesterday and today we have dealt with water problems at the farm. Frozen pipes, and they even had heat tape on them. Of course it didnt help that the tape was unplugged by one of the colts. LOL I swear those horses are smarter than us. Well tomorrow I will be making a trip to outpatient at the ER. Jhordan has a booboo that has been getting worse over the past few days and all efforts to relieve his pain at home are not working. He got poked by a nail in the palm under the thumb the other day. Now it is swollen, hard, hot, red and he has a fever. So off to the doc we go......dont have a snowballs chance in hell of getting an appointment in the office unless I call 6 weeks in advance, so this is our best bet. So everybody has been busy with school and work. Me, I have been baking up a storm. I love being in the kitchen......I should install the computer in there.....I would never leave LOL. So I think I got ahead of myself when I said I would be here everyday. I didnt realize how boring our lives are. But I guess that is a good thing. Tonight is a busy night for us, baths, reading and all the stuff that goes with heading back to school tomorrow. And my cinnamon buns are ready to come out of the oven......so Im off to get kids to bed and fold laundry and eventually pour myself into bed. Night all........

Wow...been a few days.
Havn't been here in a few days. Thought I better come visit my wonderful readers. Hasn't been a lot going on, back into the routine of school now, so thats a bonus. The first few days back after Christmas vacation were like a gong show LOL. Matt is still busy with work....go go go. Thats all he ever does, he has always been that way....he cant sit still. Unless of course I ask him to do something LOL. Kids are doing well. Havn't found Clays glasses in any strange places.....maybe thats because he has been "forgetting" them at school! He isn't happy with me tho.....since he refuses to bring them home he has been cut off of TV and the Wii. He needs them for those privileges so without them he is out of luck. Once again....mean mother. Rachael is having some issues with sleeping. Says there are monsters with 6 eyes and 10 legs living under her bed. I'm not quite sure how they would have room to live under there with all the crap she has shoved under there. Jhordan had a good day today. We spent the afternoon at my good friends house and he just loves her 6 month old baby. Kicker laughs at Jhordan so much....mom was trying to feed him and he was too busy laughing to care. He is such a cute happy baby. Almost makes me want another one. ALMOST!!! LOL Weather has been unreal lately, feels like March. Today the wind was blowing so hard...but it felt like a spring wind. Even smelled like spring. Matt thinks I am crazy when I say I can smell the weather. I can smell rain coming....he thinks thats weird. I think he is weird coz he cant LOL. Most people I know can smell rain. I need my father in law to teach me how to read the sky.....he can look at a sunset and tell ya what the weather will be the next day...he is usually right. I can read the horses....they tell me more than any weather station will. They are all acting goofy lately. Not sure what there problem is.....Jack said today that the problem is "they are all women!!!" I wasn't sure if I was to take offense to that or not. I don't usually take offense to anything Jack says tho.....we get along great. He says we get along like a cat and a dog LOL. I say I'm the dog. Well it is midnight here, I still have to make lunches for tomorrow, and Ozzy is pawing at me telling me to go to bed. So I shall do that. Peace....

HELP ME!! I've turned into my mother
Last night the kids were invited to a movie night at our friends house. I dropped them off, came home to write in my blog (but got sucked into my Pogo cult), and wait for the call to go get them. The call came, I left my game, put my jacket on and left. It wasn't until I hit the highway and I had to use the brake that I noticed my feet felt funny. I put the light on and looked. Never laughed so hard in my life. I left the house in my slippers. In January, in Manitoba. You gotta be all kinds of stupid to do something like that LOL Now mind you the weather has been unseasonably warm....but still, it was blizzard conditions. What if I would have hit the ditch and had to walk. I would have lost all my toes to frost bite. Now all my life growing up my mother used to embarrass the hell outta me by wearing her slippers uptown all the time. Now I am doing it. When Rachael noticed I was wearing them last night she gasped MOTHER!! I was like "yeah so what, they are comfy" Now I'm not sure I am comfortable wearing them to town, but I'm sure the day will come that my mother will possess me completely and I will do it. I notice more and more everyday that I have acquired traits from my mom. Some of my actions, the silly things I say to the kids, ( for example: Mom I got a boo boo......Me: are you bleeding? Kid: No. Me: Then you aint dying.), my bellowing voice, and the fact that I am slowly learning how to handle teachers when my child has been wronged in someway. Now the bellowing voice, Mom says I havn't mastered it yet. I'm sure in time I will. The kids can hear me from 2 blocks away. When we were kids we could hear mom for at least 4 blocks LOL. Now I am definitely not saying turning into my mother is a bad thing. She is the strongest, wittiest (is that a word), funniest, hard working woman I know. She always made sure us kids didnt go without. We always had a roof over our head, food in our bellies, and a nice warm bed to sleep in. She let us make mistakes, and screw up. And Lord knows I screwed up often. She wasn't a friend to us, and that was great, I had enough friends, needed a mother. She never took our side when we got in trouble. And somehow always knew the crap we pulled uptown before we ever got home. Always had spies on us (thanks Marg and Kathy LOL) I always wondered if Mom was a spy for them? I'm sure she was, coz that what friends do right....rat the kids out LOL. If I am half the woman, half the mentor, have half the strength, and am half as mean as she was....then I will be blessed.

Another Week Gone
Already 2 weeks gone out of this year. I pray that 2008 doesn't go as fast as 2007. Tho I fear it will. Seems every year goes by faster than the last. Soon it will be Clays birthday, then ball season, Rachael and Jhordans birthdays, then the end of school and Jhordans kindergarten grad. And then the lazy days of summer. Ohh summer, as much as I hate the heat, I love being able to make a bonfire, and sit and roast marshmallows with the kids. taking them swimming at Oak Lake. More and more every year Clayton is getting over his fear of water. I cant wait to be able to BBQ every night. Amazing what you can make on a BBQ. Last summer I made "drunk ass chicken" for the first time. Best chicken I ever ate....even Rachael, who is a borderline vegetarian ate it. So that's a must again this year. And fishing.....during the spring and summer, if we ain't home....check the river. I want to go camping this year. Last year I sat around waiting for Matt to have a weekend off so we could all go.. This year forget it. The kids and I are going. I want to make it out west to Mortlach to see some dear friends of ours. Of course I said that last year and never made it. I'm tired of waiting for tomorrow, tired of putting things off. Tomorrow never comes, it always turns into today! But of course when summer comes I always miss winter. Miss seeing the horses everyday at chore time, miss seeing my favorite father in law everyday. So I guess with every new season there is beginnings and endings. Doesn't seem fair does it. Giving up one thing you love for another. Such is life I guess.

Pens, Pens, Everywhere..........
OK maybe not "everywhere". If they where everywhere, I might actually be able to find one!!! I just bought 36 pens last week. 36!!! The 12 packs were on sale for .99 cents each. I brought them home, put them in my nice wicker basket on the computer desk, reached for one today.......NONE!!! What the......where did 36 pens go in a few days? I'm guessing they grew legs and walked away, or maybe the green martians scooped them up from space. There could be a million reasons for the disappearance of 3 dozen pens. Of course none of these reasons could be further from the truth. As the kids got home today, one by one they came off the bus, and one by one they all got the same question. "Where did all my pens go?" Now the 3 different answers I got, really wern't all that different in context. "Not me", "Wasn't me", and "I dunno" Now for the rest of you parents, you know that these 3 entities (that have never been proven, or disproved), are all related. They are cousins. And I truly hope that when my children grow up and move away, they take there beloved spirit friends with them!! Now the only answer that was "slightly" different was the "I dunno". It came with such venomous attitude that can only be housed in a little girl of only 8 years old. **Side note: This attitude MUST be inherited from her fathers side.....I know for a fact that I NEVER had such attitude.......right mom? he he** So it was the "I dunno" that I honed in on. The conversation went something like this
Me: Are you sure you don't know where the pens are?
Rachael: I said I don't know.
Me: Your telling me that in less than a week, 36 pens have left the premises?
Rachael: What is a premises?
Me: *sigh* this house!!
Rachael: Oh. Well I'm sure they are still in the house.
Me: If you didn't take them, how do you know they are still here?
Rachael: I didn't say I didn't take them. I said I don't know where they are.
Me: I think you better go up to your room and find them.
Rachael: ** I cant even type the sound that was emitted from her**
I swear some days she is within inches of her head spinning around. So by bedtime, she brought me 3 pens. I guess 3 isn't too far off of 36. Who needs to write anything down anyway? Writing is overrated.
So we have added to the long list of nieces and nephews again. Our niece Dawn and her boyfriend Marc welcomed there first baby into the world yesterday. A boy, Cai Alexander. I love the name. So baby Cai makes 20 great nieces and nephews. WOW!! ( I had to actually sit and figure it all out...the number has gotten away on me LOL) So 17 nieces and nephews, 20 great nieces and nephews......and that's just the Shannon side. So far there is only 2 on my side. Sooo all in all the numbers are 19 and 20. Amazing. And I'm only 28....can you imagine what the numbers will be when I'm 50......I don't even want to think about it LOL.
So that's a look into today. Sleep tight.

Morning Madness
Why is it that as the bus is pulling into the drive thats when someone says " I cant find my mitten" ? Like you didn't notice you were short one when you were standing at the window for 10 minutes waiting on the bus?? And of course, the other mitts offered arn't as good as the missing one, so you send a blubbering child out to the bus. Seems that happens here often, and this morning was no exception. It isn't like they don't have a special place to put there stuff. Each child has a hook by the door, under each hook is a basket. This basket is "supposed" to be for mitts, toques, scarves, all the necessities of a Manitoba Winter. Do things make it there? Of course not, well apperantly half of the things make it there. It isn't like the basket is hidden in the darkest corner of the basement, it is in plain site. Makes me wonder if Clay is really the only one that should be wearing glasses LOL
Just as my kids were a little slow on the uptake today, so were the dogs. I swear, they are out to get me. walking out of the laundry room with a load of clothes, and true to Frank form, he tried to trip me. He thinks he is a cat, winding in and out of my legs. After I got my composure from almost having my neck broke, I noticed that Ozzy was chewing Rachaels pencil under the table. I crawled under there to take it away....he growled at me. Hmmm little pint sized dog thinks he is a rotweiller. Not happening bud, Im Alpha around here LOL
As I mentioned earlier, Clayton now has glasses. They sure change his look. More and more like his dad everyday...poor kid. He got them Friday, this is Wednesday. So far I have found them, in his backpack, under the couch, in the fridge, in the microwave, on the dog food pail, and beside the wood pile. He says he likes wearing them.....but apperantly they need to be cooked and cooled first. Hopefully he gets used to them soon, I'm scared of where I will find them next.
Jhordan and I took a trip with Dad Shannon today. We went to Deloraine to see Mom. She has moved to the home there. She seems to be settling in alright, she says she isn't, but thats expected. There is a resident cat there and Mom enjoys playing with her. Mom and Jhordan were fighting with the kitty today, it was a good laugh. Kitty is declawed, but as Mom and Jhordan found out, she still has teeth.....sharp ones LOL. I took a set of family pictures down to Mom. When she was looking at them, she stared at a picture of Matt and Rachael for a few minutes, then said "funny looking bugger ain't he?" I laughed and said a face only a mother could love.....she replied with " Well I don't know about that" LOL. I guess I'm not the only one that thinks he is goofy looking. Thats my Mother in law for ya, always good for a giggle.
Well I think that is all for me tonight. Time to read to the kids and put them to bed. I hope all is well with you and yours. Have a great night wherever you are.
