HELP ME!! I've turned into my mother

Last night the kids were invited to a movie night at our friends house. I dropped them off, came home to write in my blog (but got sucked into my Pogo cult), and wait for the call to go get them. The call came, I left my game, put my jacket on and left. It wasn't until I hit the highway and I had to use the brake that I noticed my feet felt funny. I put the light on and looked. Never laughed so hard in my life. I left the house in my slippers. In January, in Manitoba. You gotta be all kinds of stupid to do something like that LOL Now mind you the weather has been unseasonably warm....but still, it was blizzard conditions. What if I would have hit the ditch and had to walk. I would have lost all my toes to frost bite. Now all my life growing up my mother used to embarrass the hell outta me by wearing her slippers uptown all the time. Now I am doing it. When Rachael noticed I was wearing them last night she gasped MOTHER!! I was like "yeah so what, they are comfy" Now I'm not sure I am comfortable wearing them to town, but I'm sure the day will come that my mother will possess me completely and I will do it. I notice more and more everyday that I have acquired traits from my mom. Some of my actions, the silly things I say to the kids, ( for example: Mom I got a boo boo......Me: are you bleeding? Kid: No. Me: Then you aint dying.), my bellowing voice, and the fact that I am slowly learning how to handle teachers when my child has been wronged in someway. Now the bellowing voice, Mom says I havn't mastered it yet. I'm sure in time I will. The kids can hear me from 2 blocks away. When we were kids we could hear mom for at least 4 blocks LOL. Now I am definitely not saying turning into my mother is a bad thing. She is the strongest, wittiest (is that a word), funniest, hard working woman I know. She always made sure us kids didnt go without. We always had a roof over our head, food in our bellies, and a nice warm bed to sleep in. She let us make mistakes, and screw up. And Lord knows I screwed up often. She wasn't a friend to us, and that was great, I had enough friends, needed a mother. She never took our side when we got in trouble. And somehow always knew the crap we pulled uptown before we ever got home. Always had spies on us (thanks Marg and Kathy LOL) I always wondered if Mom was a spy for them? I'm sure she was, coz that what friends do right....rat the kids out LOL. If I am half the woman, half the mentor, have half the strength, and am half as mean as she was....then I will be blessed.
